JAMES E. WEST FELLOWSHIP

The James E. West Fellowship Award is a national recognition for individuals who contribute $1,000 or more in cash or securities to the Concho Valley Council Trust Fund. This contribution is in addition to, and does not diminish or replace, the donor’s annual gift to Friends of Scouting.

Organizations or individuals may contribute an award in honor of someone, an Eagle Scout, a Silver Beaver recipient, council president, or district chairman, or in memory of a departed loved one, business associate, or special Scouter. As of March 1, 2003 we have 31 James E. West members.

Those participating are recognized with an attractive personalized certificate, a distinctive lapel pin and an embroidered square knot for uniform wear. While it is a national recognition, the James E. West Fellowship Award is authorized and presented by the Concho Valley Council.

In order to encourage more Scouters to become James E. West Fellows, the Concho Valley Council has established a Sustaining Contributors Program that will accept payments over a period of four years to complete the $l,000 minimum contribution.

Volunteer Background Checks

April 1st, 2003 is when the new leader background checks begin.  All applications must have a social security number.  This affects only new leaders to ensure that we have safe, quality leadership for our programs.  The application process will not be delayed as the checks are done online.  Your Chartering Organization and Committee Chairman are still your front line quality control check.  The new applications have the red background check release on the front cover, if you have any adult applications without this please destroy them.  The new adult applications have arrived at the scout office.  You can call the scout office to receive the new applications at 1-800-321-7107.

NEW PROCEDURES FOR
EAGLE SCOUT CANDIDATES

When you turn in a rank of advancement of “LIFE” on a scout ask at that time for a verification of his records.  We will do a computer check through the national office and be able to show you what he needs in order to achieve Eagle and provide a certified Eagle Scout application.  The future Eagle applications will be electronically transmitted.  If you have any questions please speak to Barbara at the Scout Office.
