2004 BOY SCOUT SHOOTOUT
BEST EVER

Almost 160 shooters took part in the 2004 Boy Scout Shootout Sporting Clays Invitational to benefit the Concho Valley Council BSA Scoutreach Programs.  The weather was great (after a short rain during lunch). Speaking of lunch—PackSaddle Bar-BQ put on a great spread, the course was spectacular lots of prizes & guns were won & the overall winner was the Scouts who will benefit from the funds raised by this event.  The monies are used to help send underprivileged Scouts throughout West Texas to Summer Camp.

Special thanks to Weldon Riley, our event chairman & to all of the volunteers & Scouts who helped make this event such a success.  More thanks go out to our sponsors who provided the financial backing for the event.

The Shootout committee has met & decided that we will repeat this event next year.  The 2005 Shootout will be held at the San Angelo Clay Bird Association, Highway 67 West on Saturday, August 27, 2005.  Next time we will have three rotations with the first being held at 8:00 am.  The 2nd rotation will be at 11:30 am & the 3rd rotation  at 3:00pm.

Fees & sponsor amounts will be determined in the next few months & more information will be available in the next Scouter.

COUNCIL REACHES 100% OF FOS GOAL

The Concho Valley Council has once again reached 100% of our Friends of Scouting goal.  This is thanks to a lot of hard work & efforts of many volunteers & to the generous contributions of our Friends of Scouting.  THANK YOU!

The Family campaign did very well again this year with many families choosing to make an investment in the future of our youth through FOS & we actually had to reorder many of the FOS recognition items, including the utility pocket knife which was the big hit this year.

There are still several donors from last year who have not yet made their commitment for this year.  We want to extend the opportunity to any past Friends of Scouting to make a pledge for this year & continue their support.
