The New Internet Rechartering
Electronic rechartering is here! Internet
Rechartering is a Web-based method for units
to renew their charters from any online
location—at home or at the office. Units
will love this new method; it’s easy, convenient,
and accurate because you enter the information
yourself!
Here’s how it works.
The Concho Valley Council has an Internet
Rechartering page on our Web site (www.cvcbsa.org)
with instructions and a link to the software.
The unit receives its charter renewal packet
as usual, only now the packet includes information
for Internet Rechartering, including an
access code especially for the unit. The
unit selects an adult to complete the online
process. This renewal processor uses the
access code to log onto the Internet Rechartering
Web site, selecting to start the process
with current ScoutNET data or data from
unit-management software. At any time, the
renewal processor can suspend the electronic
rechartering process and return later to
the last completed screen.
The system lets you enter new members,
renew current members, and update information
for any registrant. When completed, the
new unit roster is submitted to ScoutNET
and a Unit Charter Renewal Report Package
is printed. This package includes the unit
charter application. Acquire the signatures
for the application and send it, the rest
of the package, any new youth and adult
applications, and all fees to the council.
There’s a link to the Internet Rechartering
tutorial and help on the Concho Valley Council
Web site. Check it out—we think you’ll like
the design. All BSA policies are enforced
throughout the system, so what you enter
is sure to meet all requirements.
If you have any questions or comments,
contact the Concho Valley Council office
and we’ll be glad to help you out.
Council Scout Shop Gets
With the Program
For decades Scouts, parents and leaders
have purchased thousands of books, badges,
uniform parts and awards each year from
the council trading post. Also during
this time hundreds of packs, troops, and
crews have “banked” with the council through
the use of unit accounts. This has
all been accomplished with the use of paper
and pencil. Needless to say these processes
have proven to be a near overwhelming and
extremely time consuming challenge over
time.
As resources (people, time and dollars)
are stretched to the limit a better way
to provide these services has been developed,
Sellwise. This integrated software and hardware
package will maintain unit accounts, inventory
of supplies, interface with credit card
providers and print receipts of all transactions.
In preparation for this transition a
number of steps need to be accomplished;
An inventory of the current stock,
A review of the current unit accounts,
. Installation of equipment along with software,
and staff training in the usage of
these new tools.
With this in mind, please know that
the
Council Trading Post will be closed the
week of December 12-16, 2005. You should
make sure to do your purchasing no later
than December 9, 2005. The Council Office
will remain open and all other functions
will continue as usual.
Finally, the end result will hopefully
provide you a quicker and more satisfying
shopping experience. This enhanced
service to leaders, parents and Scouts would
have not have been possible without the
generosity of an anonymous donor. For
that support we are truly grateful.

Philmont Volunteer Leader Training
Philmont is one of the most famous Scout
Ranches in existence. Many Scouts
have gone on treks there and had a great
time. But what you might not know is that
Philmont also offers a top notch training
center with training sessions for every
volunteer. The best part about the
training center is that while the adults
are in training conferences their children
can attend planned activities, so the whole
family can have fun. The Philmont training
course outline lists the trainings that
Philmont offers by the month they are offered
in. Each month has a theme associated
with a specific area in Scouting. Your month
might be just around the corner. Please
hurry, reservations and payments need to
made through the Council Office. For
more information please check out the Philmont
Training Centers website:
www.scouting.org/philmont/ptc/index.html
or contact Dennis Luellen.
