Amangi Trail Seeks Ten Additional
Unit Commissioners

Unit Commissioners act as liasons of the district, keeping Packs and Troops informed of things going on and making sure that unit leaders are trained and prepared to provide a quality program for the Scouts they serve. There will be training for Unit Commissioners at Camp Sol Mayer on December 3rd, 2005.  For more information contact Josh Watson at 325-655-7107, or 277-5712.

Volunteer Training

The Amangi Trail District Would like to thank each volunteer that has given time to provide a quality Scouting program in their community. An important part of the Scouting program is the training that is available to help new leaders have a successful and fun-filled program. Ensure that each leader in your unit has REGISTERED, view’s Youth Protection Video, completes Cub/Boy Scout New Leaders Essentials Training and Leadership Specific Training.

New District Executive

My name is Joshua Watson. I am a local graduate of Lakeview High School in 1990. I served 10 years in the United States Army before returning to San Angelo with my wife Andrea and 13 year old daughter Macy. I graduated Angelo State University in 2002 and worked in Law Enforcement prior to employment with the Boy Scouts of America. My hobbies include outdoor activities, raising livestock, coaching youth sports and playing softball. I hope to get to know each and every one of you in the years to come.

Permian Basin District

Greetings and salutations! I am enjoying my new position as the unit serving executive of the Permian Basin greatly, as I adjust to small town life in Ozona. Everyone in the District has been wonderful thus far, and I would like to thank everyone who has made my job serving you that much easier. A little bit about myself, I moved from Georgetown, TX to Ozona (with a brief stopover at Camp Sol Mayer).  I attended Texas Tech University and graduated from West Texas A&M University.   I earned my Eagle Scout in 1995 as part of Troop 405 in Georgetown, as well as worked Summer Camp staff at Lost Pines Scout Reservation in Bastrop, TX. Anything else about me, feel free to ask!

Unit Commissioners Needed

Our great District still has a need for Unit Commissioners. If you are interested, do not hesitate to let me know. The training for the Unit Commissioners will be held Dec. 3rd at our fabulous Camp Sol Mayer. For more information, feel free to give me a call on my cell phone at 325-277-7189.

Training

Training for new adults will be held on a need basis.   If you are a new adult leader, please call me and we will get you trained.   Due to the size of our district and the price of gas, We, as a district, will be bringing the training to you.   If you have any questions, please call me at 325-277-7189.

Amistad District

Scouters, Fall is passing swiftly, and Winter is around the corner.  The fall Cub Scout Rallies are going well. The District is now working on strengthening Units and organizing new ones. Volunteers needing training should contact Gerardo Martinez at (830) 703-6343 or call the Council Office at (800) 321-7107.

Round Tables (continued training) is at the at the LDS Church 1315 Kings Way, Del Rio, Texas. This training is always the first Thursday of every month at 7 PM don’t miss out! Thursday December 1, 2005 will be Amistad District Annual Christmas party at the Round Table. Each person attending needs to bring a gift to exchange and pot luck plate, Merry Christmas, May the peace of our Lord be with all of you. The District meeting is still held in Brackettville, Texas. These are every third Monday of each month. Chartered Representatives are encouraged to attend this meeting.

Popcorn sales have ended. Units that did not sell popcorn as fundraiser can still sell by participating in a “Show and Sell” limited variety popcorn sale $$$. Contact Gerardo Martinez or the Council Office at above phone numbers for more information.

The District Committee has moved the Amistad District Banquet to a new date. The Council Calendar indicates the Banquet is January 28th. The new date is January 21st. This eliminates the conflict with OA Winter fellowship date.

We are looking for more unit commis- sioners.  Call Gerardo Martinez or Gary Burt if you want to help. I want to take this opportunity to thank all you fine volunteers for the outstanding job you are doing to make Scouting work across our district.

THANK YOU!
