K. Wynn Alston

Wynn has now been registered as a Scouter for over 24 years.  He has been involved with several different units during this time.  Some of the groups that have benefited from his service include: Explorer Post 23, Troop 333, and Crew 111.  The district and council has called upon his leadership and he has been active as staff for Cub camping weekends, training committee, camporees and as the master of the Council’s website.   His current role is as an Amangi Trail District Committee member.

For his leadership, Scouting has awarded him the Scouter’s Training Award, Boy Scout Leader Training Award, Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor and the District Award of Merit.

Besides Scouting, he takes time to support other community organizations and activities. He has been an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, a bugler for ceremonies at Fort Concho, and President of the Omega Gamma Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, the national service fraternity founded on the principles and ideals of Scouting.

Wynn’s greatest expertise is in BSA Aquatic programs.  He has served as the Aquatic Director at five different Boy Scout camps.  His knowledge of skill and safety makes him a valuable member of the National Camp School Staff.  He represents the values of Scouting by the giving of himself to benefit the youth who participate in Scouting.   Little known, is his commitment to the council as the unofficial support staff member, often assisting around the council office with various tasks.

Sarabeth L. Erickson

Sarabeth is a devoted volunteer with more than two decades of service. She became involved in Scouting as a Tiger leader starting in 1982.  She later served as a Den leader and Webelos Leader with Pack 240 of the then Chisholm Trail Council. Her program abilities were recognized when she was selected to serve as the Cub Scout Roundtable Commis- sioner.

Once she moved to San Angelo, Sarabeth again became an active Scouter.  She has been involved as a District Committee member, as a trainer, and has given leadership at our Cub Scout camping weekends. Currently Sarabeth serves as a Unit Commissioner in the Amangi Trail District.

Sarabeth is a Lead Cook for the San Angelo Independent School District. Most of us have enjoyed a meal that Sarabeth prepared at an activity at Camp Sol Mayer or Recognition Dinner. She is active in church where she teaches Sunday School and works with the WMU.  She has been involved in his children’s youth activities.  Girl Scout leader, Band Booster, and Choir Booster Club President are just some of her accomplishments.

For her Scouting leadership she has been awarded the Commissioner’s Key and the District Award of Merit. Sarabeth is married to Michael, a previous recipient of the Silver Beaver.

Christopher Calk works as an Emergency Medical Technician.  In his work life he lives the Boy Scout Motto everyday of “Be Prepared” and fulfills the slogan “to do a Good Turn Daily.”    He has supported the district and council by being involved in Weekend Cub Scout events and running the rappelling tower at Camp Sol Mayer.  He also helps out at the First Aid Lodge during various activities.

His Scouting leadership positions have included:  Pack Committee Chairman of Pack 283, Assistant Scoutmaster and then Scoutmaster of Troop 283.  He is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow.

He has been involved in his community and his children’s activities.  These activities include 4-H, and the Utopia Baptist Church.
