The
William D. Boyce
New-Unit Organizer
Award
The
William D. Boyce New-Unit Organizer
Award is to recognize volunteers who
organize one or more traditional Scouting
units. The award is a square knot
to be worn on the uniform above the
left pocket. The  award has three
colors, representing the three phases
of the Scouting program – Cub Scouting,
Boy Scouting and Venturing. The
knot is earned by organizing one traditional
unit. A program device is earned
for each additional unit organized,
allowing the award to recognize a volunteer
for organizing up to four new units.
The award recognizes volunteers
for organizing traditional units after,
March 1, 2005. The Relationships
Division of Boy Scouts of America administers
the award program and the local council
presents the awards. Information
on this award is available from the
council office.

Program
Preview Packets
In
August, every unit should receive a packet
of planning materials for your Pack, Troop,
Crew, or Post. Each Packet has been carefully
packaged with customized materials for your
unit. Please take the time to plan your
unit program this year. Complete a budget
and plan to sell popcorn. Included in the
packets are items like forms, Good turn
for America information, Council Programs,
and much more. If you are or were unable
to attend your District’s Program Preview
then call you District Executive or the
Council office.

you need for any of these awards. The How
