Camp Ranger’s Report
THING’S GOING ON AT CAMP SOL MAYER

  • Pool has a new coat of paint and is OPEN for the summer.
  • We had 70 people for workday and completed several projects.
  • We upgraded the plumbing in several bathrooms.

The new entrance to camp is slowly coming along

Anyone wishing to come out and work a few hours is welcome. We have cabins they can stay in. You can work a few hours a day then go fishing or enjoy the pool or bring the family out for the weekend.

Turkey season will be over on May 14th so the ranch will open for hiking until October when deer season starts. Reserve your weekend with the Council Office.

Camp Fawcett
The workday is scheduled for May 20th and we have many work projects that need to be done. The Camp Ranger will be at Fawcett by noon on May 19th. Troops are welcome to come campout for the weekend and help in the many projects for the Spring Cleaning at Camp Fawcett. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Camp Wish List
Camp Fawcett & Camp Sol Mayer

This wish list is for items that are in new or good condition. If in question, please discard the item. Please call the council office before you drop off the items. The list is:

  • Oil - 30 weight for mowers
  • Pool chemicals
  • All kinds of hand tools
  • Grease for the grease gun
  • 2 Cycle Engine Oil
  • Water Hoses (New or close to it)
  • Cleaning Supplies
  • Brooms and Mops
  • Plumbing Fittings (new)
    pvc 2" down to 1/2 "
  • Tire sealer
  • 2X4 X8's or longer - New

 

 

New First Class Requirement
The BSA’s Advancement Committee has announced a new First Class Rank Requirement. The new requirement is listed in the 2006 Boy Scout Requirements Book. The New Requirement is listed as requirement eleven.

It states, “Tell someone who is eligible to join Boy Scouts, or an inactive Boy Scout, about your troop’s activities. Invite him to a troop outing, activity, service project, or meeting. Tell him how to join, or encourage the inactive Boy Scout to become active.”

The New requirement became effective January 1, 2006, Scouts already working on their First Class Rank prior to this date will have until June 30, 2006, to complete the rank without fulfilling requirement 11. All other Scouts should complete this requirement.

If the new Scout is recruited then the Recruiter can also receive the Recruiter Patch for recruiting that new Scout.
