Amangi Trail

The Amangi Trail District is currently in the process of conducting this years’ Fall Round Up. The District has conducted or scheduled visits to boys (Grades 1-5) in almost all 37 schools across the area. The fall membership drive is used to help offer the program to anyone who may be interested. Support the Drive by scheduling open houses and promotional events today, this will allow others to see what scouting is all about. If you have pack meetings or troop/crew open houses coming up please let your District Executive know by calling (325) 277-5712. If your unit has not yet scheduled or would like to rally a school again please let your District Executive know as soon as possible.

The District is also holding Nominating Committee meetings to find individuals of good character willing to support the District and serve on the District as a Chairman, or Commissioner. We appreciate every scouting volunteer for all of his or her hard work. We all know that scouting is a community and family run organization and we would not be able to support today’s youth without your help. Events like Day Camp, and the District Pinewood Derby will not happen without volunteers to support and chair these events.

 Amistad District

The Amistad District Committee has elected to move the District meetings to the First United Methodist Church, 100 Spring Street, Del Rio Texas. We will be meeting in the basement of the Church every 3rd Monday of the month. The Roundtable training will continue to be at the LDS Church on Kings Way St., Del Rio, Texas.

We had great fun at the Webelos Woods’program at Camp Fawcett. The event was held September 29 and 30 ending Sunday, October 1, 2006. We had 89 people in attendance.

I want to thank the OA for the great service projects done at the Fall Ordeal at Camp Fawcett, October 7, 2006. Thanks to all the volunteers that helped.

We are very busy running rallies at the public schools. Some units are turning in re-charters. Right now is the time for the units to start thinking about District Recognition. Contact Danny Williams, Gary Schreiber or Roger Ridley for more information.

New for calendar: December 1 and 2, 2006 will be the new dates for the Scoutmaster Specifics and Outdoor Leadership Skills Training. On Friday, Training will start at 6:00 PM at the LDS Church, Ham Ln., Uvalde, TX. Then will continue at Ft. Inge, Uvalde, TX overnight and Saturday. Please pre-register by phone with Gerardo Martinez.

The Amistad Annual Christmas Party will be December 7, 2006 at the regular roundtable time. Bring a snack and a gift of about $10 and join us for fun. Contact Gerardo Martinez (830) 703-6343 for more information.
