To provide service (training and direct support) to the volunteer leaders of the Packs, Troops and Venture Crews that serve those youth.

To organize supplemental Council and District program to enhance the program of all Packs, Troops and Crews.

To raise sufficient funds to do all of the above.

It is up to each and every one of you to make sure our mission is carried out. The best way to do this is to bring more people to the table. A wise man once said, “It is better to get ten people to do the work than to do the work of ten people.” It is up to you to find more of you. They are out there. Scoutmasters of days gone by (great Commissioners or trainers) Den Leaders from a few years ago willing to pass on their ideas and tips for success to new leaders. Eagle Scouts who would love to give back to an organization that gave so much to them (Friends of Scouting, etc.) Anyone who believes in the values and the importance of Scouting.

I said it before and I’ll say it again, the Boy Scout organization belongs to the volunteers. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to help you these past three years and in the words of the Outdoor Code, I hope that I have left the council “better than I found it”. May you do the same.

If you would like to keep in touch, my email will remain:

Vaya con Dios.

Yours forever in Scouting,

Dennis J. Luellen

MOM N ME/FAMILY CAMP SET FOR MAY 2006

It is time once again for Mom N’ Me and Family Camp for Spring 2006. We will continue the tradition of Moms and Cubs coming out for the Mom N’ Me weekend, May 6-7 to camp, have fun and have all meals, including lunch on Saturday provided for $20 per person.

The second weekend (May 13-14) will be Family Camp. This weekend can be for a Cub and his mom or dad, or for the whole family! Grandparents, uncles and aunts, little brothers, big sisters or vice-a-versa, everyone’s welcome! All families are responsible for their own meals. No meals will be provided for Family Camp. The cost will be $5 for each person. Cooking will be permitted in the campsites. This is a way to make sure that more people can afford to attend this fun event.

Please pre-register for these events. The registration deadline for Mom N’ Me is April 28. The deadline for Family Camp is May 6. T-shirt orders for Mom N’ Me needs to be in by April 21st and the deadline for the t-shirt order for Family camp is April 28th.

The theme for this year’s camps will be Knights of the Concho Valley! All the Lords and Ladies will be having a great time at Castle Sol Mayer. Playing in the moat, Dragon Slaying at the BB-gun range. Practice for the royal archers at the Archery Range. The pool will be open and the king’s fleet of paddle boats will be available. There will be other Cub camp staples like the obstacle course, climbing wall and chunkin’ rocks in the river, but there may be a few surprises (like jousting) as well!

Remember—the first weekend (Mom N’ Me) will be $20 per person (meals provided) and the second weekend will be $5 per person (bring your own food). T-shirts will be available for $10 ($12 for 2X and 3X) if pre-ordered and paid. You can register as a Pack or as an individual but please call (325) 655-7107 or toll free 1-800-321-7107 for more information.

Council Auction March 25

The Council will hold its’ annual auction again this year to generate revenue for our ever-growing Scout program.

Bruce Willig has agreed to chair the event and formed a committee that is working hard.  If you would also like to serve on this committee, please contact the service center to find out how.

The 2006 Auction will be held Saturday, March 25th.  The location will be at 39 W. Concho Street.  This is on the corner of Irving and Concho.

Donations are now being accepted.  You can donate by calling the Council Office at 325-655-7107 or 1-800-321-7107. Items that did very well at last year’s auction were vehicles, guns, sporting goods, electronics and computers.
