Amangi Trail

Amangi Trail 2005 recognition banquet held on January 20th 2006 was a great success. The event had over 60 people in attendance, well exceeding the numbers of previous years. The meal featured was lasagna prepared by Michael and Sarabeth Erickson. A special thanks goes out to our cooks for the amazing meal, all their time and effort is greatly appreciated. Many individuals were presented with awards at the Banquet. The most distinguished honors went to our recipients of the Trailblazer Award and District Award of Merit.

Amangi Trailblazer Rhonda Sherrod has helped out with several rallies to recruit more children to our organization. She is a member of the Roundtable staff and is currently a Wolf Den leader and Cubmaster for Pack 14.

Amangi Trailblazers Melissa and Dave Schreiner are well-trained volunteers. She attended Roundtable Commis- sioner training and runs the Round- tables. Through the efforts of both her and her staff, Roundtable attendance has increased. He attended Day Camp training and is a trainer for University of Scouting. They are both currently registered to Pack 447 in Miles.

Genny Henderson received the District Award of Merit. She started on the scouting trail 10 years ago when her oldest became a Tiger Cub. She has been a Tiger Cub Den Leader, a Den Leader. Genny has helped keep Pack 22 running as a Committee Chairperson for several years.

Jared Ducote received the District Award of Merit at the District Banquet. He has been in Scouting since Cub Scouts, and received the Arrow of Light in 1989. Jared is an Eagle Scout who is currently an Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 36 and a Unit Commissioner for many units.

Thank you to all who attended, and congratulations to all who were recognized and honored.

Permian Basin District

The Permian Basin District Recognition Banquet was highly successful. In addition to around 40 people attending, great fun was had by all. A meal of venison and turkey was served by Linda and Melvin Conner, as well as Stephen and Freida Zuberbueler. A special thanks to the Conners and the Zuberbuelers as well as Troop 153 for an excellent banquet.

The District Banquet also saw our two recipients for the District Award of Merit so honored.

Jean Richardson of McCamey has been in Scouting for many years, including a previous District Award of Merit from the Conquistador Council out of New Mexico. Jean was also honored with the Silver Beaver Award for her many continuous years of service.

Linda Conner of Ozona serves as an Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 153, as well as assistant Camporee Chairman and Banquet Chairperson. She has seen her son Glen from Tiger Cub all the way to Eagle Scout, and has served selflessly every chance along the way. I would like to thank both of our honorees for everything they do, and I think we all owe them a debt of gratitude.

Some Activities for the Spring include our Permian Basin District Camporee, to be held May 12-14, at a site TBD. Chairman for the Camporee Committee is Melvyn Conner of Troop 153 in Ozona. If you would like to offer any help, feel free to contact me at 325-277-7189.

Training will be offered on a basis of need. If you feel that Cub Scout Leader training, Boy Scout leader Training, or any other training is something you wish to participate in, please let me know. I can be reached at 325 277-7189.

Last, but certainly not least, our Council Auction will be held on March 25, 2006 in San Angelo. For more information, please contact the Council office.
