Camp: Thank You
I would like to say Thank You to all the units that made it to Summer Camp this year. It was a rainy, yet adventurous summer. There were lots of good times and many memories made. I hope your experience was a good one. If you were not able to join us this year, please make plans to join us next year for a summer of fun!
Thank you Ted Hogan, Butch Simpson and David Kemp for blessing us with you presence as Camp Commissioners. Also I would like to say a big Thank you to the rest of the staff who worked at Camp. It was a pleasure.

Advancement Continues
(continued from page 4)
. . . . . specifically at http://www.cvcbsa.org/ forms/national.htm then select Unit Advancement Report. To further facilitate this process the council provides your unit access to an online advancement reporting site. Funding from Friends of Scouting makes this possible. Instructions for this internet based tool were also enclosed in the letter sent to unit leaders.
Baden Powell, the founder of the movement, once said, “Scouting is a game with a purpose.” As with any game a set of rules apply. Making sure that no hard working and well deserving youth member is denied their duly earned recognition is important. Your assistance and cooperation to assure this is appreciated. No doubt you may have questions. Please feel free to discuss them with
your District Advancement Chair.

Commissioner’s Corner
Dear Scouter,
There are several keys to be successful in leading a Pack or Troop. At the Program Preview, you will receive several tools to help you and your parents in planning an entire year of program. Also, you have been mailed and have received budgeting tools to help determine the amount of money your unit will need to provide a quality program. Set a sales goal to reach the amount needed. Be Sure to communicate with all parents about what is planned and what costs are involved. Use the popcorn
sale to provide scouting for free. These two tools are the beginning steps in being a successful unit and should be completed. Earning the Summer-Time Pack Award or going to Boy Scout Summer Camp and earning the New Centennial Quality Unit Award will help lead you in the right direction. Please visit with your Unit Commissioner, District Commissioner, or District Executive for guidance.
Contact Your District Commissioner, and say, “I need guidance” or call the Council Office at 325-655-7107 or 800-321-7107 or email bsa741@bsamail.org. Your District Commissioners are: Tim L. Vasquez
(Amangi), John Fluth (Permian Basin), Gary Burt (Amistad)
Daniel Anderson,
Your Council Commissioner
