Permain Basin District Continued from Page 3

As most know the Silver Beaver Award is the highest council honor bestowed on our volunteers for service above and beyond. Congratulations once again to John Fluth, the Permian Basin District Commissioner.

As most of you know our Friends of Scouting campaign has kicked off for the 2007 year and most of us have started preparing for individual unit Family FOS presentations, as well as a Community FOS breakfast/lunch.As we go through these next few months, carrying out the Friends of Scouting Campaign, I would like to remind everyone to keep focus on the meaning of this campaign.Without Friends of Scouting our District and Communities would lack some fundamental resources provided through Friends of Scouting. If I have not discussed Friends of Scouting dates with your unit, your unit’s turn will occur soon.If anyone is willing to assist and volunteer in helping me arrange presentations or know of someone willing to do presentations please contact me at 325-277-7189. It would be most appreciated.

Currently I am needing to fill the following positions for our District: District Family Chair for Friends of Scouting, District Community Chair for Friends of Scouting, District Chairman and District Popcorn Kernel. If you know of someone who would be suitable for these positions, please refer them to me at the above number.

Once again, I would like to say Thank You to all the great Volunteers that make the District happen.I look forward to a great year with all of you!

Amangi Trail District Commissioner’s Report

Commissioners are people who work behind the scenes. A good commissioner is one who helps a Unit succeed many times without the Unit knowing the commissioner has helped. If you have what it takes to be one of us, contact your District Commissioner. If you don't know who your District Commissioner is, contact your District Executive.

Roundtable on the 8th of February will be your last chance to turn in the Centennial form.

A reminder December, January, February recharters are now DUE. Your units should start working on updating rosters and turning new forms into the council office, if you have not already done so. Please note that our District will be making a push to change all recharter dates to December. This will allow the District to serve each unit in a more timely and effective manner. Keeping your Pack, Troop, or Crew current with the councils’ data will ultimately streamline the recharter process and help us to support you better.

The District is also holding Nominating Committee meetings to find individuals of good character willing to support the District and serve on the District as a Chairman or Commissioner. We appreciate every scouting volunteer for all of his or her hard work. We all know that scouting is a community and family run organization and we would not be able to support today’s youth without your help. Events like Day Camp, and the District Pinewood Derby will not happen without volunteers to support and chair these events. Become involved and work with the District to make these events more successful.

Be informed. Come to the District Roundtables on the (2nd) Second Thursday of every month at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church at 7 pm. Roundtable is the best time to update yourself on training date, upcoming events, dates changes, and most importantly the best time to get help with membership, program, or any other concerns associated with your unit. If the day and time do not fit your schedule please let the Roundtable staff know and we will make a point to get vital information you missed out to your unit. We want you to be successful and the Roundtable meetings will most certainly help you to accomplish success.
