Commissioner’s Corner

Dear Scouter,

The most coveted Centennial Award requires more work than ever. The unit Commissioner must be there! Yes, the Unit Commissioner must make visits to the Unit during the year in order for your Unit to earn the award. He or She must help the Unit develop a yearly goal. Unless your unit has had at least three visits from your Unit Commissioner your Unit will not earn the award.

How important is this? If your Unit does not earn the Centennial Award there is a good possibility that the District will not earn Quality District. This means that there is a good possibility that the Council will not earn Quality Council. This is not what any of us want to see. The Council will soon begin a Unit Commissioner recruiting drive.

What can you do? If you are not the leader most responsible for your Unit, (Example Scout Master, Cub Master etc.) and you are finding yourself needing to take more of an active part in your Unit, volunteer as a Unit Commissioner. Contact Your District Commissioner, and say, “I want to help”. Call the Scout Office at 325-655-7107 or 800-321-7107 or email . Your District Commissioners are: Tim L. Vasquez (Amangi), John Fluth (Permian Basin), Gary Burt (Amistad) Daniel Anderson Your Council Commissioner

Daniel Anderson,
Your Council Commissioner
