Summer is upon us and we have just a month of school left when you read this newsletter. Have we accomplished what we set out to do? Did we have a plan to help our youth grow in Character, Citizenship, and Fitness? Please contact Gerardo Martinez at (830)703-6343 to complete your Centennial Quality Unit Plan, if you have not yet done so. The Amistad District Committee has been meeting at 309 E. El Paso St. Brackettville, TX. I want to thank Joe Goebel for making the facility available for this meeting. The April meeting is an exception; it will be at Camp Fawcett April 20, 2007, 8:00 PM. We will be back in Brackettville for the May 21, 2007 meeting. The next Round Table will be Thursday, May 3, 2007, at the LDS Church in Del Rio on Kings Way in Del Rio. June and July as in past years Round tables and District meetings will be suspended. We will start with the regular schedule in August 2007. The District is currently conducting a finance campaign to raise $48,000. This is our share of the $830,260 Council Budget. The Amistad District has currently raised $9,400. We are planning Community Breakfast for Del Rio, Eagle Pass, Carrizo Springs, and Uvalde for Friends of Scouting (FOS). Sandy Cardenas is conducting a Campaign in Crystal City for FOS. Volunteers wanting to help or attend the Campaigns should contact Gerardo Martinez Phone Number (830)703-6343.
I would like to thank Danny Williams, Steve Moynihan, Gary Schreiber, Roger Ridley and Pete McClellan for the Great Training Work done for Amistad District. Pat Ramos and Troop 346 thank you for representing the Council at Austin for Report to State. “BE PREPARED” our Spring Camporee is scheduled for April 20-22, 2007 at Camp Fawcett. Evelyn Zalman is doing a GREAT JOB as Camp Director. We all need to give her a BIG THANKS. Amistad District will have a JLT training May 19, 2007. All the Troops need to make plans to attend Summer Camp. A Troop that does not camp is not successful. Webelos Woods is scheduled for September 29, 2007. Report to State is the First weekend in February. |
