Recruitment: The fall race to scouting campaign was a big success. A special thanks to Daina Schwartz for all she and Devin did to organize the rallies. Some of the Cub Packs doubled or even tripled in size. That is a testament to hard work and shows that interest in scouting is alive and well in our home towns. The following Cub Packs did an excellent job at the elementary school or schools they were given. Pack 7 Patricia Sims worked to increase her numbers at Santa Rita and McGill. Pack 12 Steve Schlitter pulled from Ft. Concho. Pack 22 Stacy Wright and Jennifer Sullivan increased its number from Crockett. Pack 327 with the help of a new cub master, Paul Hulzebos is working at Lamar to continue to grow. Pack 349 Frank Berthold and Vicki Lancaster overflowed with new cubs from Bradford, Fannin, Goliad, and Holiman. Pack 374 Paul Grover is now working with most of the students from Bowie. Pack 375 Anthony Baeza is well known by all at Bonham. Pack 424 James Coleman in Brady is growing by leaps and bounds. Great job to all that helped with these school rallies. We know the value of scouting and the need to give our program to our youth is stronger than ever. Please do not give up on recruiting, just think if you son was the one we missed and what he would have lost out on. District Pinewood Derby: A committee is being formed to start the road to the finish line. If you would like to help or have an idea please contact Jim Bright at the council office. Plans are in works to make our district race one of the biggest and best ever. Webelos Woods: This was the fourth consecutive year Webelos Woods has been held at Camp Sol Mayer. There were six Troops and six packs that attended. The activities and cooking presented by the Troops were boy-run. The troops planned their menus and purchased their own food. The larger troops: T36 and T340 ate Patrol Style, while the rest ate troop style. In all cases, the Boy Scouts were involved in the prep/cooking/cleaning process. The dining hall was not open. The Trading Post was open from 10am - 6 pm thanks to Keith Mahler. Pack leaders and the parents of Webelos visited with Troop leaders while the Webelos interacted with the Boy Scouts at each station. All demonstrations and activities were given in the Internet Rechartering: 1. Easy to use. 2. Increased accuracy because unit is using ScoutNET data. 3. Saves time for unit and council. 4. Information will be in your Recharter Packet. |
