The Amistad District Committee has District meetings at the First United Methodist Church, 100 Spring Street, Del Rio Texas. We will be meeting in the basement of the Church every 3rd Monday of the Month. The Roundtable training will continue to be at the LDS Church on Kings Way St., Del Rio, Texas.

Congratulations to the entire District and Unit volunteers for helping Amistad District Achieve Centennial Quality District 2007. Amistad was the only District to achieve the recognition; this could not be possible without the high caliber of volunteers in our District. HIGHLIGHTS: Amistad District achieved the $48,000 goal by June 30, 2007, a total of $54,835 pledges by end of 2007 (FOS collection of 96%. Amistad District ended the year with an increase in Units, an increase of 9.7% in membership for a total of 907 youth members.Amistad District met the standards and increased categories, Centennial Quality Units, new units, membership growth, youth retention, Friends of Scouting, Unit retention, number of Unit Commissioners and recruited 10 new District Committee members.

The Nominating Committee, Dick Whipple, George Pride and Danny Williams are working hard to put together a slate of District Personnel. The volunteer recognition committee is working to put together a list of Scouters to be recognized at the District Banquet. Pat Ramos and Danny Williams are in charge.

New for calendar. The Amistad District Banquet Committee met in Uvalde to put the finishing touches on the Banquet plans.Pat Ramos, Laura Foradory, and John Davis are on the committee.

The Amistad District Recognition Banquet will be held Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 7 p.m. The location is at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 209 N. Grove, Uvalde, Texas. The cost will be $10.00 per person. RSVP 1-800-321-7107 if you plan to attend by 1-28-08. Training: Saturday, February, 9, 2008 Cub Scout leader Training At the Methodist Church in Del Rio. 100 Spring Street at 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Camping: Camp Fawcett is open for Troop camping 3rd weekend of the Month. Please contact the Council office if you plan to attend on any weekend. Do not forget to file you tour permits ahead of time. Contact Gerardo Martinez  for more information.
