Winter Camp 2008
What did you do over Christmas break?  At Camp Sol Mayer almost 100 Scouts earned over 300 merit badges, ate good food and enjoyed great weather.

This event could not have happened without the tremendous volunteer effort of many people.  Mike and Sara Beth Erickson, our resident camp chefs made sure that everyone was fed well.  Nathan Thompson and Bill Petrozula worked hard making sure troops had everything they needed to have a safe, comfortable time at camp.  Wynn Alston helped with registration and anything else that needed to be done.  Chris Snow served as Camp Commissioner, listening to the needs and concerns of leaders and making sure they were addressed.  Order of the Arrow past Lodge Chief Beto Torres Jr. and current Chief Dustin Foradory were instrumental in helping Ranger Mike take care of anything and everything needed to insure the Scouts and leaders had a good time.

A special thanks to the dozens of Scout leaders from inside and outside our council who taught merit badges including Nuclear Science, Chemistry, Orienteering and Radio.  A special emphasis was placed on Eagle required merit badges.  Scouts worked on Communications, Emergency Preparedness, Family Life, Personal Fitness, Personal Management as well as the Citizenship badges.

There are many others who made this event a success and our thanks go out to each and every one of them.  You know who you are and please know that you helped make a tremendous difference in the lives of every Scout that was in attendance.  If you missed this year's Winter Camp, make sure and mark your calendar for next year - December 27-30.  We are sure to have a great time again.  We hope you will join us.
