Fall Roundup

Each year in the Fall, just as school is starting the Cub Scout Packs in the Concho Valley Council schedule Round-Up Rallies in their school.  Some of these include the whole town like Utopia or McCamey.  Others will rally just their Elementary or Primary School for their neighborhood pack like San Angelo or Fort Stockton.

Each District is now scheduling these rallies to assure coverage early in the new school year.  Rallies may be run by the Pack’s leadership with the aid of the District membership committee.  Some are organized by the new Pack leadership with the help of their District Executive.

A part of the Council plan is to give each new Cub Scout who joins from August to December a “limited edition” Greg Maddux  of the Braves baseball trading card. Additionally, any  boy attending his Pack rally will receive a ticket to the Family Fall Festival and a “light stick”.

If your Pack has not scheduled a Round-Up Rally call your District Executive or the Council Service Center.

Training Oppurtunites

Permian Basin  to offer
District Committee Training

A properly functioning District Committee has the ability to guarantee a quality program to the youth within it’s District. In order to provide this program, committee members need to know what their position involves. One of the major concerns in the Permian Basin District is training all leaders. This should begin with the individuals that determine the direction the District will move in. A training for all members of the Permian Basin District Committee or any interested person will be offered in conjunction with the fall camporee. The training will occur on Saturday afternoon, October 10th. The purpose of this training is to educate members and perspective members to the role of the District Committee.  We will cover all four standard functions of the District Committee; which include Membership, Finance, Program, and unit Service. All Committee members should make every effort to attend this crucial training.
