What does Scouting do for us?
Scouting provides young people a
rich, supportive environment that cultivates healthy development. A recent
study conducted by Louis Harris and Associates for the Boy Scouts of America
indicates that Scouting provides all of the elements for healthy development
prescribed by the Carnegie Council on Adolescent Development and the Search
Institute.
Bringing Scouting into the life of
every child who desires it and providing those children the opportunity
for healthy development through Scouting is the ultimate goal of the Concho
Valley Council. It costs our council approximately $ 100 per year to bring
the Scouting program into the life of one young person.
Your generous contributions to our
council have made it possible for us to provide Scouting programs to 6,400
young people, with 1,000 joining Scouting for the first time. This year,
we have trained 200 adult leaders to bring our programs to life; we have
awarded 1,470 merit badges, crossed over 178 Cub Scouts into Boy Scouting,
collected 5,800 pounds of food for those in need, and provided 147,500
hours of community service, bettering our neighborhoods at no cost to the
community.
Thank you for your continued support
of Scouting!
