DOC.COM Training

Training for leaders in a wide variety of positions will be conducted this fall at Camp Sol Mayer. DOC.COM will feature New Leader Essentials, Cub Scout Leader Specific, Boy Scout Leader Specific, WEBELOS Leader, and Basic Commissioner Training. In addition to the training opportunities, DOC.COM will include the annual program preview and updates on all upcoming events throughout the Concho Valley Council.

DOC.COM will commence at 7:30pm on Friday, September 14 with New Leader Essentials. The main sessions will be held on Saturday September 15th beginning at 9:00am and concluding at 7:00pm. Cost is $5.00 per participant and includes lunch on Saturday and all materials. Participants in the Boy Scout Leader Training should also plan to participate in the outdoor training session held the following weekend at Camp Sol Mayer.  2001 Concho Valley Council Cook-o-ree

This will be a dining experience that you will never forget.  The Cook-o-ree will be October 19-21, with the events beginning on Saturday.  This day will be filled with fun games like the Flapjack Relay, Kim's Game, and a utensil less cooking race.  Other demonstrations will be put on throughout the day, which will include Backpacking Foods, Fire building Workshop, and every Scoutmaster’s dream – the coveted Foil Pack Dinner.  Events will conclude with a potluck dinner and a Scoutmaster Dutch Oven Cook off.

West Texas Rendezvous 2002

This Spring over 1500 Scouts and leaders from throughout West Texas will meet for the West Texas Rendezvous at San Angelo State Park. Scouts will participate in a wide array of challenging activities and have the opportunity to fellowship with other Scouts from as far away as Lubbock and Wichita Falls. The Rendezvous will be held on April 26-28 of 2002 and will be open to the public. Please make plans for your Troop to attend. An informative mail-out will be sent to all Troops in the near future.
 
Cub Dad 2001
Cub Dad 2001

Cub Dad weekend is an opportunity for quality time to be spent between Fathers and Cubs.  This year cub dad will be held at Camp Sol Mayer, Where the West IS Fun.  The weekends of these events are September 29-30 and October 6-7. Wild West events will range from bows and arrows, BB guns, and a Cowboy and Indian campfire, so bring your cowboy hat and wear your boots.  Registration is going on now. The cost is $18  per person, you can register through the council office at 655-7107 or 1-800-321-7107.

Summer Camp to be held at Camp Fawcett

Camp Fawcett, located in the Texas Hill Country near Barksdale will host the 2002 Concho Valley Council Boy Scout Summer Camp. Camp Fawcett is situated on the Nueces River. Scout Leaders should consider making their reservations early as Camp Fawcett has a weekly capacity of only 200 boys.

A non-refundable $10.00 per boy reservation fee is required in order to secure a Campsite. Camp dates for 2002 are:

    Week 1 – June 9-15
 
   Week 2 – June 16-22
    Week 3 – June 23-29
